Belt and Pulleys

Illustrates the transmission of power by simple pulleys and an open belt. In this case both of the pulleys rotate in the same direction.

Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.

Modelled as
belt (friction; 120-link elastic chain)
Measured
ω_bot/ω_top 0.994 (0.6% creep), belt on, μ≈0 control 0.000
Notes
Only the upper pulley is motor-driven (30 rpm).
